Johannes Leitz crafts this classic Rheingau Riesling from fruit grown in the Drachenstein vineyard in Rudesheim. Drachenstein, which translates as Dragonstone, takes its name from the fossil impressions of dinosaur tracks found in the slate that makes up the vineyard soil.
That slate contributes to the crisp mineral quality of the wines produced from the fruit there, and Leitz utilizes that character to produce this delicious, off dry rendition of Germany’s great grape reisling.
Staff Review:
Amazing mix of fruits! Taste of peach, pineapple, grapefruit and a hint of lime. Off dry with not a lot of acidity. Great pick for Easter dinner! -Steve
An all around great example of what a sweet riesling should be. Great balance between sweetness, acidity and minerality! A must try! -Eric
