Every year this is one of the great wines of Beaujolais by all measures – the first hint at quality is, as usual, the vibrant color you can see literally the richness and depth, then the billowing perfume. Aromas are bright and crystal clear with entrancing aromas of red/black cherries and hints of sweet kirsch. The taste is energetic, fresh and focused, with juicy fruit, fresh acidity and a firm mineral grip. The hot and dry vintage has provided serious concentration but it has beautiful tension, balance and length. To me, this is perfect Cru Beaujolais from a master – a bargain for what it is.
