Tinta de Toro (a style of Tempranillo) grown organically on 20 hectares over sandstone, clay and limestone soils. Vines are on average 20-100 years old. Everything is hand harvested with spontaneous fermentation in old, neutral oak. Aging is quick, 5-6 months in neutral oak with zero filtering or fining. Minimal to no sulfur used at bottling. Super crowd-pleasing, medium-boded red, that you might never expect comes from Toro! Definitely the new wave, not heavy or extracted like so many others. Stock up when it’s in the house.
On the nose, blackberry, cassis, raspberry, blueberry, black plums, cherries, fresh aromas. On the palate, soft, and velvety with nice freshness and just the right amount of tannin. Well balanced and good structure.
