Guerrieri Rizzardi 3 Cru Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a rich, spicy red wine produced from a blend of traditional Amarone grapes with Sangiovese added for extra black fruit flavors.
comprised of 45% Corvinone, 20% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 9% Barbera and 6% Sangiovese. Grapes sourced from Guerrieri Rizzardi’s three single vineyards – Calcarole, Rovereti and Pojega – are selected for this wine, with Calcarole’s grapes adding weight and elegance to the blend; all Calcarole wine went into this Amarone after being aged for 3 years.
As with all Amarone, the grapes that comprise this wine undergo a drying process prior to fermentation, resulting in increased concentration and complexity. This wine displays an intense color, aroma and flavour profile, with softening tannins as it ages in the bottle.
On the nose, this wine presents ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit aromas, which are complemented by more savory flavors and warm spices from the oak. With high alcohol at 16%, this wine is rich and full-bodied, but the acidity ensures it remains well-balanced and not overly heavy. As it ages, it will continue to develop and reveal its full potential though it is drinking beautifully now.
